Sharon Cory
Punch Studio Gallery
Sharon Cory is a Manitoba artist, educated at the University of Manitoba in Architecture and Fine Arts. She paints in acrylic on large canvasses and in watercolour. She is mainly interested in how the eye follows movement across an abstracted landscape, in the manner of the Bay Area Figurative Movement. She uses images of people, animals, birds, etc., that she collected and injects them into likely or unlikely scenarios, sometimes to make a political statement or point out an inequality.
Her purpose in painting is, to quote the great Lucy Van Pelt, to make the world a better place for her to live in.
Open during WAVE Studio Tour June & September. Year round by appointment.
