Greg Palsson
Greg Palsson story….
Greg’s interest in bird carving evolved from a lifelong interest in creative wood projects. His bird
sculptures are carved from basswood, a wood native to southern Manitoba. Most realistic carvings take
countless hours of precise detailing. Much research and close observations of birds in their natural
habitat allows Greg to provide the realism that one can see in his finished birds. His home on Hecla
Island Provincial Park gives him the opportunity to make close studies of many different bird species.
Greg has been perfecting his work for over 40 years and during his lifetime, he has been a consistent
winner at bird carving competitions and juried art shows. His birds have found their way into personal
collections all over the world.
Greg’s studio is currently able to showcase over forty bird carvings from songbirds to large birds of prey
such as falcons, goshawks and grey owls. He also specializes in upland game birds and a variety of duck
species. Greg will also take commissions for a carving of your choice.
