Helma Rogge Rehders
H. RogueRaiders Studio Gallery
Helma is a member artist of the WAVE Interlake Artists Studio Tour. This tour celebrates 25 years and so does Helma’s studio. It is surrounded by nature and borders on the Boundary Creek. This was Manitoba’s boundary before the inclusion of the land up to the Hudson Bay. Some 25 years ago Helma opened her studio to the public. At the beginning artists Marianne, ceramic objects, and Batik creations, and Gabriele, functional pots, were the guests artists each summer. The studio cottage, which is Helma’s home, is within walking distance to the main beach in the town of Winnipeg Beach. The tall black Water Tower is a prominent landmark. It served the railways which transported a huge crowd each summer to the beaches along Lake Winnipeg. Then the first WAVE, the Interlake Artists’ Studio Tour hit the Westshore of Lake Winnipeg.
And the rest is history.
Helma welcomes her friends, artists and the general public
Into her studio. She hangs out her ‘Shingle’ with the invitation to walk right in. Boundary Creek rushes by during spring thaw into Lake Winnipeg, its waters spill into the far Hudson Bay. 0, The wonder of it all.
